Tucson man gets jail, probation in son’s death

TUCSON, Ariz. — A Tucson man accused of breaking several of his infant son’s bones has been sentenced to two years in jail and five years’ probation.
Justin Alber was indicted in February on four counts of child abuse under circumstances likely to cause death or serious physical injury. He pleaded guilty to two of those counts last month.
The 21-year-old Alber was facing up to 30 years in prison at Monday’s sentencing in Pima County Superior Court.
Authorities say Alber’s 7-month-old son suffered a broken clavicle, arm, leg and rib since last November.
The Arizona Daily Star says Alber and the baby’s mother took their son to the hospital after the boy showed difficulty moving his arms.
The hospital staff found evidence of multiple fractures in various stages of healing.
