YOUNG, Ariz. — Fire officials say containment is up on an eastern Arizona
wildfire.
The U.S. Forest Service said Sunday that containment against the Pecos Fire
just outside of Young is up to 50 percent and remains just under 12,000
acres.
Officials say many of the firefighting resources are being released to their
home units or to other fire assignments within Arizona and New Mexico.
Crews plan to continue mop-up efforts, patrolling for hot spots and
strengthening fire lines.
Firefighters have created containment lines around the community of Young
and burned out fuel ahead of the fire.
