YOUNG, Ariz. — Crews say there has been no growth on an eastern Arizona wildfire and that they feel comfortable enough to start releasing some of the hundreds of firefighters assigned to the blaze.
Spokeswoman Punky Moore says that the fire just outside of Young remains at just under 12,000 acres with 35 percent containment.
Moore says that some of the 768 firefighters on the Poco fire will be released as containment lines continue to hold and the workload decreases.
Crews plan to continue mop-up efforts, patrolling for hot spots and strengthening fire lines on Saturday.
Firefighters have created containment lines around the community of Young and burned out fuel ahead of the fire.
