Arizona National Guard unit to deploy to Qatar

PHOENIX -— An Arizona Army National Guard unit is set have a send-off ceremony in Phoenix on Saturday to prepare for a deployment to Qatar.
Seventy-three soldiers with the 850th Military Police Battalion Headquarters and a detachment will first head to Camp Shelby in Mississippi for a month of training.
Then they will head to Qatar in the unit’s first deployment.
Most of the soldiers are from throughout Arizona, including metro Phoenix, Tucson, Flagstaff, Snow Flake, Casa Grande, Winslow and Yuma.
Other members hail from Mexico, Colorado, Illinois, Idaho and Texas, among other states.
A send-off ceremony will be held for the soldiers and their family and friends at 11 a.m. Saturday in east Phoenix. They will leave for Mississippi on Tuesday.
