PAYSON, Ariz. — Residents in parts of Gila County are being told to not
tap into their water.
KPNX-TV reported the Pine-Strawberry Water Improvement
District recommended Tuesday its customers refrain from using water for any
purpose, specifically drinking or bathing.
The district manager said the heat, an unspecified mechanical issue and water
levels in supply wells are causing a strain on the system.
Officials said the restriction could last from 24 to 48 hours.
Residents in 16 subdivisions just northwest of Payson are affected.
Customers can get drinking water at the district office on West Hardscrabble
Road in Pine.
The district also is asking customers in the area who aren’t being restricted
to not hoard bottled water.
The advisory recommends all customers avoid non-essential water use.
