TUCSON, Ariz. – A former assistant wrestling coach at a Tucson-area middle
school was been sentenced to jail in a sexual exploitation case.
Pima County prosecutors say 42-year-old Richard Lee Moreno was sentenced Monday
to four months in jail and four years of probation.
A judge gave Moreno credit for 27 days he’s already served.
The Arizona Daily Star says Moreno was indicted earlier
this year on one count of solicitation of sexual exploitation of a minor. He
pleaded guilty to the charge last month.
County Sheriff’s deputies went to Altar Valley Middle School in Three Points on
Feb. 2 after learning a 15-year-old former student told the head wrestling coach
she had received inappropriate text messages from Moreno.
Detectives searched Moreno’s home and collected evidence and then took him into
custody.
