What’s seven feet by 12.5 feet and weighs more than 900 pounds?

It’s a United States flag made out of LEGOs and construction is now underway to build a second flag in honor of Flag Day, June 16.

The flag will be seven feet by 10.5 feet and built with 114,006 LEGO bricks, representing the total number of square miles in Arizona.

“We are going to be touring [the flags] around the state for the rest of the year, into next, said, Jeremy Scott of Bonanza Educational.

The flag-building event, open to the public, is kicking off the Arizona Centennial Flag tour. The new flag will be one of the main attractions at Tempe’s Fourth of July festival and will possibly be at Tempe’s Sept. 11 Healing Field event and the Arizona State Fair.

After all those appearances, it will travel the state through Feb 14, 2013, better known as Arizona’s 101st birthday.

The event is free. Anyone can stop in the storefront at Mill Avenue and Seventh Street from June 14 to 21 between 12:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. to help build the flag in Suite 121 of the Centerpoint complex on Mill Avenue.
