Sheriff Arpaio to mark 80th birthday with go-kart race

Who says you have to be young to appreciate a good go-kart race?

Certainly not Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who turns 80 on Thursday.

Instead of a traditional day out, Arpaio chose to mark his birthday — coincidentally the same day he celebrates 20 years as sheriff — with a day at Octane Raceway, an indoor cart racing facility in Phoenix.

“I like to say that 80 is the new 60,” Arpaio said in a press release. “You’re only as old as you feel and I feel great.”
