TEMPE, Ariz. — An Arizona State University student traveling with other
students in Thailand is missing after going for a late-night swim.

ABC 15.COM reported ASU said crews in the beach city of
Phuket were searching Wednesday for the body of Joshua Shane, 21.

Shane and at least four other students went swimming Tuesday night and he never
returned to shore, according to a local news outlet.

ASU spokeswoman Julie Newberg said Shane was a sustainability major and was
studying abroad.

Newberg said the school is deeply saddened and is offering condolences to
Shane’s family and friends.
