Prescott plans for Fourth of July fireworks

Jun 10, 2012, 10:22 AM | Updated: 11:32 am

PRESCOTT, Ariz. — Conditions permitting, the city of Prescott is planning
to go ahead with its annual Fourth of July fireworks show.

City officials say that unless multiple wildfires are burning in the state or there
are strong winds blowing come Independence Day, the fireworks show will be
held.

Every June, city officials have to decide whether to move forward with a
fireworks display during Arizona’s wildfire season.

Prescott Fire Marshal Eric Kriwer tells the Prescott Daily Courier
(http://bit.ly/Mr3GRG ) that the fire department will use water trucks to wet
down the area around the fireworks staging city in Pioneer Park and clear
nearby brush.

A crew of firefighters and at least two engines also will be on hand during the
fireworks show in case anything goes wrong.
