PHOENIX — Animal control officials in one of the nation’s most populous
counties are going online in an effort to reunite lost pets with their owners.
Maricopa County Animal Care and Control has launched a Twitter feed called
No Lost Pets Maricopa. It allows owners to get updated information on
animals coming into the shelter.
KPHO reports
that shelter workers will be sending out tweets with the lost pets’ descriptions
and locations of where they were picked up.
Maricopa County is just the latest to start using social media to reach out to
pet owners. There are similar efforts under way in many states, including
Delaware, Florida, Oregon and Texas.
