PHOENIX – A federal grand jury has indicted a man who allegedly robbed
seven banks west of Phoenix since last August.
Prosecutors said Friday that 31-year-old Walter David Garcia is charged with
four counts of bank robbery, three counts of armed bank robbery and one count of
use of a firearm during a crime of violence.
They say Garcia is a Mexican native who lives in Phoenix.
Authorities say Garcia allegedly used demand notes to commit four bank
robberies last August and September.
They say he allegedly used guns to commit three more bank robberies in February
and April.
Authorities dubbed him the “Home Team Bandit” because he usually wore a
sports team hat or clothing during the robberies.
It was unclear Friday whether Garcia has a lawyer.
