TUCSON, Ariz. – Federal authorities have seized about 3,250 pounds of
marijuana worth more than $1.6 million from two abandoned vehicles in southern
Arizona.

U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Willcox Station responded to reports Tuesday
of a suspected smuggling vehicle attempting to drive around the state highway 80
checkpoint.

Agents found an abandoned pickup with about 1,350 pounds of marijuana stacked
in the cab and bed of the truck. The marijuana’s value was estimated at
$662,000.

Meanwhile Tuesday, agents working on the east side of Nogales saw a suspicious
truck near the international boundary and a subject running across the Mexico
border.

The truck contained more than 1,900 pounds of marijuana worth about $967,0.

The vehicles and marijuana loads were turned over to the Drug Enforcement
Administration.
