One of the men wanted in a stabbing at a Phoenix Circle K store has been arrested, police said in a press release.
The suspect was identified as Jose Montelongo, 21. He was also linked to a robbery earlier in the week at a different gas station, where he allegedly punched a woman and stole her wallet.
“This is an individual, understand, that is recently out of prison for a very similar offense: robbery,” said Phoenix Police Sgt. Trent Crump. “He is currently on parole, so hopefully the sentences on these particular cases will fit what he did.”
On June 5, a 55-year-old man was filling his gas tank before going to work. The victim was approached by Montelongo and another man who demanded his wallet. In the resulting scuffle, the man was stabbed several times.
Both suspects fled the area on foot.
The victim was taken to a local hospital in serious condition, but he is expected to survive.
The second suspect in the case is still at large. He is described as being a Hispanic male in his early 20s. He stands about 5-foot-8 and was wearing a red shirt and white shorts.
