PHOENIX — State Farm has become the latest insurance company to use technology to track customers’ driving habits, which could lead to savings for drivers.
That technology could be available in Arizona by the end of the year.
Ford has partnered with the insurance company to use the automaker’s dashboard telematics system, SYNC, to monitor driving behavior.
The information goes directly to the insurance company, which will adjust premiums based on mileage.
Savings could reach as high 40 percent for drivers, but 10 percent is more typical, according to Ford.
“Putting the driver in the driver’s seat through the use of technology,” said State Farm’s Robert Villegas.
