SURPRISE, Ariz. – An El Mirage man has been arrested in connection with a
fatal shooting last weekend at a party in Surprise.
Surprise police say 21-year-old Manuel Acosta is being held on several counts
of aggravated assault and misconduct involving weapons for his involvement in
Sunday night’s incident.
Police on Tuesday forwarded a new charge of second-degree to the Maricopa
County Attorney’s Office for Acosta.
They say a 20-year-old man died Monday afternoon after sustaining gunshot
wounds during the shooting while the victim’s 43-year-old father was wounded in
the arm and leg.
Their names haven’t been released yet.
Police responded to reports of a large, all-night party when they heard
gunshots and screaming coming from a different area of the house.
Two shooting victims were found bleeding on the home’s front lawn.
