A man who used to be homeless and is now dedicated to helping those in need has a new reason to smile.
USA Today reports Harvor Davis was given a full dental rework by Dr. Lee Fitzgerald in Plano, Texas, as a thank you for Davis’ hard work.
Davis works in the warehouse for a company that sends an old ambulance around Plano that has been retrofitted to serve people in need. Called “The Soupmobile,” it hands out about 200,000 meals in the Dallas area annually, the Huffington Post reported.
Five years ago, before he was working for the Soupmobile, Davis was found sleeping in the back of his truck. His teeth were in a bad way and would require about $50,000 in dental work to repair. Fitzgerald performed the surgery at no cost.
“It is an honor to know and treat Harvor,” Fitzgerald wrote in a Facebook post. “He has done so much to help himself and others. I am touched by the heart of a man who comes from a place where he had so little yet has given of himself so much.”
Davis joked to USA TOday that his new smile is “better than the first I had.”
