Loughner’s stay in Missouri officially ends this week

PHOENIX — Tucson shooting-rampage suspect Jared Loughner’s stay at a Missouri prison
facility where he’s undergoing psychological treatment is set to officially end
Thursday.
It’s not known when Loughner, 23, will be moved to Tucson for a
June 27 hearing over whether he is mentally fit to stand trial.
U.S. District Judge Larry Burns ordered that Loughner remain in Missouri pending further notice.
Burns has twice found that Loughner isn’t ready for trial, but has said that he believes the suspect can eventually be made mentally fit.
Loughner has pleaded not guilty to 49 charges stemming from the January 2011
shooting that killed six people and wounded former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords
and 12 others.
Loughner has spent more than a year at the Missouri facility.
