Grieving Phoenix father makes final plans for daughter

PHOENIX – In a matter of seconds, Lindsay Chaulk’s life was turned upside
down.
His daughter, Olivia Wilson, 17, was driving on the I-17 Monday night when
she hit another car going the wrong direction. According to DPS, the driver
of that car was drunk. Both Olivia and the driver were killed.
Friday, Chaulk bought an urn for his daughter’s ashes.
“He got what he deserved, but my baby didn’t,” said Chaulk tearfully. “That
man did wrong and we leave that in God’s hands. We trust that God is the
ultimate justifier, so we’re leaving that with him.”
Chaulk said his daughter had just finished the school year with a good
report card and was getting ready to start her first job this week. In her
final moments, she was on top of the world.
“She was really, really happy,” he said. “And just so beautiful. She just lit up
every room she walked in to.”
Olivia’s friends have set up a candlelight vigil Friday at 8:00 p.m. outside
Desert Ridge High School. Her volleyball teammates and other school
athletes have arranged a car wash Saturday at a Valero at Baseline Road and
Ellsworth at noon.
The family has also set up a bank account in Olivia’s name at Chase Bank –
– the number is 3033782078. The money will go towards funeral
arrangements, and the remainder will go to a charity for autistic children.
