A Mesa father was able to save his 18-month-old son’s life after he fell in the pool on Thursday, police said.
Mesa Fire Captain Forrest Smith said the boy’s father was swimming with his sons, when he got out to check out smoke coming from a house down the street. He pulled the toddler out with him.
“[The father] had just turned away briefly, turned back, found the child was in the water and had gotten him out immediately and just gave him some rescue breathing” he said.
The toddler is expected to be fine.
