TUCSON, Ariz. – Political newcomer Nomiki Konst has dropped out of the
race for a full term representing former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’ southern
Arizona congressional district.
Konst announced Thursday that she was suspending her campaign after three
months because “it became clear to me that there was not a way forward for me
in this race.”
The 28-year-old Konst is a former University of Arizona student who founded an
organization on civil discourse.
She was the third Democrat to announce a run for the new Congressional District
2 that includes eastern Pima County and all of Cochise County.
State Sen. Paula Aboud dropped out of the race in March. State Rep. Matt Heinz
remains in the race.
The primary for the general election is Aug. 28 with the general election on
Nov. 6.
