PHOENIX — An Amber Alert that was issued Monday for an Arizona girl has been cancelled after the suspects in the case turned themselves into police Monday evening.
Arizona Department of Public Safety officials said the parents of 7-year-old Miya Silverly voluntarily turned themselves into Navajo County Sheriff’s officials after escaping as far as New Mexico when police made contact with them.
The couple, 36-year-old Jessica Marie Siverly and 37-year-old Ronnie Dale Siverly, had been ordered by the Department of Child Safety to turn Miya over to state custody. Sheriff’s officials said Jessica is being arrested on suspicion of child abuse and they plan to question Ronnie, although it’s unclear if he will face charges.
The Arizona Department of Transportation said Miya was last seen at her home in Snowflake, Arizona, at 12:45 p.m. Monday.
Miya , a victim of child abuse, was believed to be traveling toward the Phoenix area. They were in a dark green 2000 Buick sedan with Arizona license plate BLA4754.
