Phoenix area’s first poutinerie to debut in Tempe

PHOENIX — Canadians in Arizona, do we have some good news for you: The state’s first-ever poutinerie has officially debuted in Tempe.
US Fries, a restaurant specializing in traditional Canadian Poutine with an American twist, opened its second location at 414 S. Mill Avenue in Tempe on Wednesday.
Thomas Jones, president of US Fries and Calgary native, said the restaurant offers guests a new way to experience classic eats.
“People are sick of the same old, same old,” he said in a press release. “What we’ve done is create something really unique and the people don’t like it, they love it.”
For non-Canadians, poutine is a comfort food made of French fries, cheese curds, and brown gravy. US Fries takes the traditional poutine and Americanizes it, adding anything from pulled pork and roast beef to the classic chili and cheese.
The poutinerie first opened its doors in Tucson, Arizona in 2014, but will now also be located in the home of the Sun Devils.
