1 man killed, another arrested after west Phoenix shooting

PHOENIX — A man is dead and another was arrested after a west Phoenix shooting on Friday morning, according to authorities.
Officers responded to a shooting call in a neighborhood near 51st and Southern avenues around 1:10 a.m. and learned of a victim shot by a known suspect, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
The victim, 27-year-old Luis Beltran-Arteaga, was taken to a hospital by family members where he later died.
Witnesses said the suspect, 23-year-old Jose Fajardo, ran away on foot into the neighborhood before police eventually found and arrested him.
Detectives said Fajardo and an adult woman were in a fight near 47th Avenue and Van Buren Street earlier Thursday evening. Fajardo allegedly fired multiple shots, but the woman was left uninjured.
The woman then went to a home near 51st and Southern avenues which is where Fajardo forced his way into the home through an exterior door.
Fajardo then allegedly shot Beltran-Arteaga before leaving the home. He is being booked on multiple felonies, including murder.
No other information was made available.
The case is an ongoing investigation.
