1 man dead, 1 woman injured in crash involving semi-truck in west Phoenix

PHOENIX — A man is dead, and a woman was hospitalized after a car crashed into a semi-truck in west Phoenix on Monday, according to authorities.
At about 10:15 p.m., officers responded to the crash near 51st Avenue and the I-10 Freeway.
After arriving, authorities found 33-year-old Christopher Betterson-Bishop with critical injuries, and he was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Paramedics took the woman to the hospital with serious injuries that were determined to be non-life-threatening.
Detectives believe Christopher was driving south on 51st Avenue when he ran a red light while crossing over the I-10 Freeway overpass and he crashed into a semi-truck that was headed west on the I-10 Access Road.
The semi-truck driver remained at the scene and talked to detectives.
The investigation remains ongoing.
