PHOENIX — A Buckeye school resource officer was arrested on domestic violence charges on Monday night, authorities said.
David Ellison, an SRO at Verrado High School for more than a decade, was accused on the charges related to a family member, according to a press release from the Buckeye Police Department.
“These allegations are troubling and do not align with our core values of integrity, safety, respect and compassion,” the department said in a statement.
Ellison was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
Another officer will take over duties at the high school, located near Indian School Road and Jackrabbit Trail.
The criminal investigation is being handled by the Goodyear Police Department.
“Police officers, especially those tasked with the safety and welfare of students, must be held to the highest of standards,” Buckeye PD said. “The Buckeye Police Department is committed to transparency throughout this process.”
