Apache Junction to hold grand opening celebration for Painted Sky Park

PHOENIX – Apache Junction is holding a grand opening celebration this weekend for Painted Sky Park, the largest recreational project in the East Valley city’s history.
The event features a variety of family- and dog-friendly activities from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. The day of outdoor fun will be capped off with a 5:30 p.m. showing of the Pixar movie “Coco.”
Painted Sky Park opened to the public at 10109 S. Dutchman Drive in August. That milestone was marked with a ribbon-cutting ceremony involving officials, local stakeholders and project developers.
It was the first of three public parks to open within the Blossom Rock at Superstition Vistas master-planned community in southern Apache Junction.
The 16-acre recreation venue features a dog park, an adventure playground and a 1.5-acre catch-and-release fishing lake. Other amenities include walking paths, ramadas, open lawn space and game courts for bocce, cornhole, outdoor chess and ping pong.
