Amazing Arizonans: Bill Shover talks bringing the Fiesta Bowl to Arizona and more

PHOENIX — I love the Fiesta Bowl. I have been a fan ever since my Miami Hurricanes played Penn State (and lost).

In my almost 30 years in Arizona, I have grown to understand the impact the Fiesta Bowl has on Arizona. It’s economic, cultural and emotional.

I sit down this week with the Bill Shover. He had the idea of a bowl game in the desert to highlight the talent of the football teams from Arizona’s universities.

We discuss the game’s history and its future. This year, till will host the first quarterfinal in the new 12-team expanded playoff.
