PHOENIX — A driver has been charged from a deadly collision that took place on June 21 in Buckeye that left one woman dead and another injured.

Police found that Nathan Chaidez, 18, was going over 100 miles an hour before losing control of his car and crashing into a tree near Verrado and Sunrise on June 20.

The victim, 18-year-old Yaritza Vasquez, died on the scene, police said. She was a passenger in the car.

Maricopa County Grand Jury indicted Chaidez on charges of second-degree murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on Tuesday.

Chaidez turned himself in on Thursday where he was arrested and booked into jail.
