PHOENIX — A 3-month-old infant died in Phoenix after being found unresponsive in her mother’s bed Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Officers responded to a call at 6:30 a.m. at an apartment complex near 67th Avenue and Osborn Road. When officers arrived, the fire department had responded to a baby not breathing call and transported the infant to the hospital who later died at the hospital.

Detectives took over the investigation and preliminary information suggests the infant was accidentally suffocated sometime overnight while sleeping with her mother.

The investigation remains ongoing. No other information was made available.
