PHOENIX — A man is dead after a shooting at a house party in south Phoenix on Sunday morning, and one arrest has been made, authorities said.

Officers responded to a shooting call near a home in the area of 35th Avenue and Baseline Road just before 4:30 a.m., according to the Phoenix Police Department.

After arriving, authorities found 26-year-old Gabriel Gillespie dead with at least one gunshot wound.

Investigators talked to several witnesses after the party and looked at surveillance footage and believe two different shootings occurred, with two suspects shooting at one another.

At this point, authorities do not know if Gillespie was an intended target or was hit by a stray bullet.

Police arrested 19-year-old Kason Nelson for weapons violations and unlawful discharge of a firearm, however, no other suspects have been identified.

No other details about the Phoenix shooting were made available. The investigation is still ongoing.
