PHOENIX — There’s a lot on the shoulders of Arizona voters this election cycle. Come Election Day, the electorate will decide whether to codify abortion rights in the state’s constitution.
With less than a month out from the Nov. 5 general election, KTAR News 92.3 FM is hosting a special show about the ballot measure at the heart of the issue: Proposition 139.
Chris Merrill, the cohost of KTAR News 92.3 FM’s The Chris and Joe Show, will anchor the deep dive, along with ABC15’s Kaley O’Kelley.
The hourlong special show will feature a panel of five experts who will analyze Prop 139’s pros and cons at different times.
Here are the guests for the show, which runs from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.:
- KTAR News reporter Heidi Hommel and ABC15 reporter Ashley Holden.
- Chris Love with Arizona for Abortion Access, a coalition of reproductive rights organizations that support Prop 139.
- Cindy Dahlgreen with It Goes Too Far, a nonprofit that opposes Prop 139.
- Barry Markson, KTAR’s legal analyst.

Why is KTAR News hosting a roundtable on Proposition 139?
In the last few months, KTAR News has streamed live debates and discussions on some of the most prominent propositions on the ballot this November.
However, since there was no official debate on Proposition 139, the news team decided to team up with ABC15 to step in and inform voters through this program.
Arizona law currently prohibits abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy, with an exception for medical emergencies later in the term. There are no exceptions for cases of rape or incest.
Proposition 139 would remove the 15-week limit and guarantee abortion rights until a fetus could survive outside the womb, typically around 24 weeks of pregnancy. It also would allow later abortions to save the mother’s life or to protect her physical or mental health.
