DNC campaign office in Tempe shot for 3rd time in past month

Oct 9, 2024, 2:41 PM

PHOENIX — As of Sunday, there have been three shootings targeting the same Democratic National Committee campaign office in Tempe, authorities said.

No one was in the office during any of the three shootings.

However, police are now asking the public to help them find a suspect involved in the three shootings targeting the political office near Southern Avenue and Priest Drive.

In fact, investigators shared a photo of the damage along with a picture of a suspect vehicle on Wednesday.

There’s a cash reward worth up to $1,000 for anyone who shares information that can help police catch the culprit.

When did the other attacks on Democratic office in Tempe take place?

Gunfire damage was first discovered at a Democratic campaign office in Tempe on Sept. 16, shortly after midnight. Authorities found the front windows shot at by a BB or pellet gun.

A week later, workers arriving to the office found more gunshot damage in the front window.

After the second attack, Sgt. Ryan Cook with Tempe Police said the situation was dangerous despite the lack of human injuries.

“No one was inside the office during the overnight hours, but this raises concerns about the safety of those who work in that building, as well as those nearby,” Cook said in a news release the day after the second shooting.

Police said they were taking extra measures to protect staff as well as others in the area.

Following the third shooting on Sunday, Tempe Police shared further details about the string of shootings.

Help needed in search of suspect in Tempe political office shootings

The latest update from Tempe Police said the suspect vehicle is believed to be a 2008-2013 silver Toyota Highlander with a sunroof, roof rack and five spoke rims.

This vehicle has been involved in the second and third shootings, a police spokesperson told KTAR News 92.3 FM on Wednesday.

Police also believe that vehicle was involved in the first incident as well, but they can’t say for certain.

Anyone with information that can help police crack this political case can submit a report with  Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (948-6377) or 480-TESTIGO (837-8446) for Spanish.

We want to hear from you.
