PHOENIX – A pickup truck crashed into an occupied day care center in suburban Phoenix on Thursday morning, but nobody inside the building was injured, authorities said.
A white truck hit the American Child Care Center in Glendale after colliding with a red pickup truck at the intersection of 51st Avenue and Butler Drive, according to the Glendale Police Department.
The red truck was heading south on 51st Avenue and turning left at Butler Drive when the northbound white truck struck it, police said.
The white truck lost control and careened over the curb, sidewalk and utilities pedestals before hitting brick day care center on the northeast corner of the intersection.
Was anybody hurt in Glendale day care center crash?
About 20 people were inside the American Child Care Center building at the time, including 15 kids, all of whom emerged uninjured.
A 32-year-old man was driving the white truck, which also had three children inside. They were all taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
The 79-year-old man driving the red truck was unharmed.
Power in the area was cut while the white truck was extricated from the West Valley day care.
A city inspector determined that the building’s façade was the only part structurally affected. The damaged area will be made inaccessible with fencing and boards.
