PHOENIX — Another day, another heat record in Phoenix as the city broke a daily mark for the seventh time in eight days on Wednesday.
The temperature reached 108 degrees at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, which the National Weather Service uses for its official reading, at 2:50 p.m.

The previous mark for the day of 107 degrees was set in 1980.
How many more daily heat records will fall in Phoenix this week?
The forecast calls for new record highs each day through at least Monday.
It’s possible Phoenix has seen its last 110-degree day of the year, but not a certainty.
Tuesday was the first time Phoenix hit 110 degrees in October in its history. The day reached 113 degrees, smashing the daily record by six degrees.
Until last week, the latest date for a high of at least 110 degrees was Sept. 19. Phoenix was at least that hot every day Wednesday through Sunday. That stretch included a high of 117 degrees on Saturday, the hottest day ever recorded in September in Phoenix.
Not only that, but an excessive heat warning for the Valley that started last Wednesday has been extended multiple times. It is now set to run at least through 8 p.m. Sunday.
Per city of Phoenix policy, the Echo Canyon and Cholla trails at Camelback Mountain and all Piestewa Peak trails are closed from 9 a.m. to 5 a.m. on days when an excessive heat warning is in effect. Each of the past two days, firefighters have had to rescue overheated hikers from trails.
