2 dead, 1 injured in north Phoenix morning collision

PHOENIX — Two 85-year-olds died from injuries suffered in a north Phoenix car crash on Saturday morning, authorities said.
Officers arrived to the intersection of 15th Avenue and Bell Road shortly before 9:30 a.m. for reports of a crash that left three adults injured.
One vehicle contained two 85-year-olds, identified as Fouad Shawo and Virginia Nathan. Both were taken to a hospital where they died, according to authorities.
The third victim involved, an unidentified adult driving a different vehicle, was hospitalized with injuries that weren’t expected to be life-threatening.
Detectives who assumed the investigation learned Shawo and Nathan were headed west on Bell Road when their car was struck by the other which was going east.
No other information was available.
