PHOENIX – Friday the 13th ended up being a lucky day last week for two Arizona lottery players.
The memorable day’s biggest payout came from a Fantasy 5 ticket purchased at the QuikTrip at McDowell and Recker roads in Mesa. It matched all five numbers – 7, 10, 14, 26 and 40 – to hit the jackpot of $194,000.
Fantasy 5 is a statewide daily draw game that costs $1 per entry. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in about 750,000.
The game’s top prize resets to $50,000 after somebody hits the jackpot.

Meanwhile, a Mega Millions player won $30,000 the same day with a ticket from the Fry’s Marketplace at 32nd Street and Bell Road in Phoenix.
That entry matched four of the five white balls drawn – 21, 55, 56, 57 and 66 — plus the gold Mega Ball of 1. The combination is good for $10,000, but the purchaser included the Megaplier option, which tripled the payout.
Mega Millions is sanctioned in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, with drawings Tuesday and Friday nights.
Each entry costs $2. The $1 Megaplier add-on multiplies non-jackpot winnings by two, three, four or five times, with the amount randomly selected before each drawing.
Tickets for Arizona Lottery-sanctioned games of chance are sold at more than 3,000 retailers across the state.
