PHOENIX — The city of Avondale began construction on a new park at the Civic Center Campus on Tuesday.
The four-acre park will be located next to the Civic Center Library on Avondale Boulevard and Van Buren Street, and is set to open in 2025, according to a press release.
The $4.1 million project was developed by J2 Design, and Desert Services International is serving as the construction contractor.
“This new park will be a fantastic addition to our Civic Center Campus, complementing the Aquatic Center and library, and offering a serene space for residents to enjoy,” Corey Larriva, director of Avondale Parks, Recreation and Libraries said in the release. “We’re thrilled that this project will provide a great open space amenity to our community.”
What will be at the Civic Center Park?
The new park will feature a shaded playground, walking paths, a picnic area, trees for shade and an open field.
The park will be open for daily use and provide new outdoor areas for events, gatherings and recreational services.
