PHOENIX — A Phoenix Police Department dispatcher was arrested on child pornography charges, authorities said Tuesday.
Daniel Rojas, 20, was arrested Friday on five counts of sexual exploitation of a minor stemming from a monthslong investigation, according to police.
Rojas is accused of knowingly using social media to collect, solicit and distribute child pornography videos, according to ABC15 Arizona.
Rojas had been on administrative leave since May, when he was interviewed as part of the criminal investigation. He has since been fired.
Phoenix Police first became aware of Rojas’ allegations in April.
The Scottsdale Police Department alerted its Phoenix counterparts of their criminal investigation in July. Phoenix’s criminal investigation is open and ongoing.
“The Phoenix Police Department takes these allegations seriously and are committed to a thorough and transparency investigative process,” the department said in a statement.
