PHOENIX – Four people were hospitalized after a fight involving knives at Margaret T. Hance Park in downtown Phoenix on Tuesday morning, authorities said.
About seven people were involved in the brawl, which broke out around 4:15 a.m., according to the Phoenix Police Department.
One of the victims flagged down officers in the area after the fight.
Three people were detained, and four people were taken to a hospital with injuries that aren’t considered life threatening, police said.
According to ABC15, victims were taken away in ambulances from near Burton Barr Central Library’s heat relief center, which is open 24/7 through Sept. 30.
Burton Barr Central Library is just east of Hance Park, which sits above the Interstate 10 freeway tunnel between Central and Third avenues.
As of Wednesday night, after reviewing evidence, detectives determined one of the injured men, 23-year-old Terrell Nozie, had attacked three of the victims which erupted into the large fight.
Authorities said there was a previous disagreement between Nozie and the other males at a nearby convenience store.
He has been booked on four counts of aggravated assault.
The investigation remains ongoing.
