Several crashes lead to lengthy delays on I-17 near Black Canyon City

PHOENIX — Both directions of Interstate 17 near Black Canyon City experienced heavy delays on Sunday after several non-blocking crashes, officials said.
The Arizona Department of Transportation advised drivers to avoid the area and seek an alternative route if possible.
Among the first crashes was on the southbound I-17 in New River at milepost 232 at approximately 10:55 a.m. The crash was cleared within an hour.
NOW: There are delays in both directions of I-17 in Black Canyon City due to several non-blocking crashes.

ADOT reported the backup was beginning to ease around 4 p.m.
