PHOENIX — A new electromagnetic aircraft arrived at the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson for pilot training on Aug. 23.

The EA-37B aircraft will give a military advantage in electromagnetic battlespace, according to a news release.

The aircraft will also deny, degrade and disrupt opponent’s communications, information processing, navigation, radar systems and radio-controlled threats.

“For a pilot, there is nothing better than picking up a brand new aircraft from the factory and delivering it to the warfighters. For those of you who are going to get to fly it, it’s going to be amazing,”  Air Combat Command commander Gen. Ken Wilsbach said.

“We are on the cusp of delivering advanced capability, especially in electronic combat, and today is an exciting day for Air Combat Command.”

The new aircraft will replace the legacy EC-130H model and advance U.S. coalition tactical air, surface and special operations forces.

A second aircraft is expected to be delivered to Davis-Monthan AFB by the end of 2024, according to the release.
