Final person dies in Tempe mobile home fire from August, bringing toll to 5

PHOENIX — The final member of a family that got caught in a Tempe mobile home fired died on Friday night, bringing the death toll to five people.

Valerie Magana-Gonzalez, 22, died after fighting for her life for more than two weeks following the fire near Kyrene and Baseline roads on Aug. 25, according to Tempe Fire and Medical.

Monica Ruiz, 51, and Ariaelly Ruiz, 3, were found dead inside the home on the night of the fire.

Enrique “Junior” Ruiz, 24, and his 18-month-old daughter, Ellany Ruiz, were initially taken to a hospital in critical condition as a result of injuries from the fire. Both victims died there two days later, authorities said.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.

Anybody with information about the fire is asked to call the Tempe Police Department at 480-350-8311.
