Glendale police seize large stash of illegal fireworks

Jun 25, 2024, 5:00 PM

PHOENIX – Glendale police seized hundreds of illegal fireworks on Monday, according to authorities.

The confiscation took place at four different locations throughout Glendale and police filled four pickup truck beds worth of fireworks.

“The Glendale Police Department is focused on ensuring our community has a safe and happy Fourth of July holiday,” Glendale Police said in a statement. “In doing so, our department is working a project to take dangerous and illegal fireworks off the street. Illegal fireworks can threaten public safety, the environment and the community’s well-being.”

Why did police confiscate the fireworks?

Illegal fireworks can injure people and damage or destroy property. Those selling illegal fireworks were charged with a class 1 misdemeanor, as part of Glendale City Code.

An investigation into the firework seizure is ongoing.
