PHOENIX — A suspect is in custody after four people were stabbed during a violent altercation at a bar in Scottsdale early Saturday, authorities said.
Joseph D. Eschief, 42, was arrested and booked after police responded to the Playa Bar near McDowell and Granite Reef roads just after 1 a.m., the Scottsdale Police Department said in a press release.
Upon arrival, officers discovered two bar customers and two members of the bar’s security staff had been stabbed.
All of the victims were taken to a hospital with injuries ranging from minor to serious, but none were considered life-threatening, authorities said.
Eschief suffered an injury after a member of the security staff he allegedly attacked hit him with a barstool. He was transported to the hospital for his head injury and was released around 2 p.m. Eschief was then taken to the Scottsdale City Jail before getting booked into the Maricopa County Jail.
The suspect will face charges for aggravated assault causing serious physical injury and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Two others, identified as 27-year-old Antonio N. Eschief and 46-year-old Selena Dewey, were arrested and booked into the Scottsdale City Jail for fighting and disorderly conduct in a separate but related incident. They were released with an upcoming court date.
Police did not confirm family connections between Antonio and Joseph Eschief.
