PHOENIX — A man was arrested last week after a woman was fatally shot in Phoenix, authorities said.

Officers responded to Cave Creek Road and Greenway Parkway Friday around 7 a.m. regarding a shooting, the Phoenix Police Department said.

Police found 31-year-old Stephanie Ellico with a gunshot wound and she was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Officers said Ellico was involved in an altercation with Christian Ball, 31, during which Ball was cut with a bladed instrument.

Minutes later, Ball fatally shot Ellico, police said.

Ball was booked into Fourth Avenue Jail on one count of possession of a weapon by a prohibited person. His bond was set at $100,000.

Homicide charges related to the investigation will be reviewed by the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.

Interest rates may have peaked. Should you buy a CD, high-yield savings account, or a fixed annuity?

Interest rates are the highest they’ve been in decades, and it looks like the Fed has paused hikes. This may be the best time to lock in rates for long-term, low-risk financial products like fixed annuities.
