PHOENIX — KTAR’s community spotlight this month focuses on a Valley company that works to provide help to single mothers.
Asset Preservation Wealth and Tax supports Helpings Hands for Single Moms, a charity which aims to help women become independent, President Stewart Willis told KTAR News 92.3 FM.
“The main goal of this organization is to make sure that these women are independent so they’re not going to be dependent on the government for help their entire lives,” Willis said.
The charity provides help with education, clothing and Christmas gifts for children.
During the month of April, Asset Preservation will be matching any donations up to $20,000.
Since 2002, Helping Hands for Single Moms has helped hundreds of people earn a college degree with a nearly 80% graduation rate.
The average annual salary for graduates is over $60,000, much higher than the $9,700 income reported on initial scholarship applications.
Additionally, research shows that a child is 70% more likely to graduate college and 80% less likely to live in poverty when one parent has graduated college.
Donations to Helping Hands can be made online.
