Glendale police motorcycle officer seriously injured in collision

PHOENIX — A Glendale police motorcycle officer was hospitalized with serious injuries after a collision Friday morning, authorities said.
The crash occurred around 7:30 a.m. near 59th and Olive avenues, the Glendale Police Department said.

A vehicle came out of a private drive and collided with the officer, who was riding a marked police motorcycle northbound on 59th Avenue, police said.
The officer’s injuries are not considered life threatening, police said. The other driver was not hurt.
The department posted a photo posted to social media showing a damaged motorcycle with debris scattered in the roadway.
Both directions of 59th Avenue in the area were expected to be closed for several hours, police said.
No other details were immediately available.
