Suspect in armed robbery killed after shot by police in Phoenix

PHOENIX — A man is dead after police officers were involved in a shooting on Thursday in Phoenix, authorities said.
The shooting happened in the Phoenix neighborhood of Laveen near 75th and Southern avenues, according to the Goodyear Police Department.
The man, described as Hispanic, was a suspect in an armed robbery at a smoke shop in Goodyear on Sunday. There were no injuries reported from the incident, but the clerk was robbed at gunpoint, according to police.
When officers made less lethal attempts to apprehend the suspect, a vehicle pursuit began.
Police surrounded the man near the intersection where he was then fatally shot.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A handgun was recovered from the scene near the suspect, police said.
Buckeye and Goodyear police were involved in the shooting.
The Glendale Police Department will conduct an investigation into the shooting.
No officers were injured during the incident.
