Buckeye man arrested after telling police he shot his wife

PHOENIX — A man was arrested Tuesday after he told police he fatally shot his wife following an argument, authorities said.
Hercelyn Mayo, 54, arrived at the Buckeye Police headquarters around 4:45 a.m. where he informed officers about the shooting near Yuma Road and Verrado Way, police said in a press release.
Mayo allegedly told police he shot Charon Mayo, 52, at their home.
He then drove to a relative’s home before reporting the incident at the police department.
Police responded to the home where they found Charon dead with gunshot wounds.
Hercelyn Mayo was arrested on homicide charges.
No other information was available.
